Privacy Policy
What personal information we collect when you visit this website, ask for a quote or book a clean, where it is stored, who else handles it, and how to access, correct or delete it.
Who We Are
This website is run by One Call Steam Clean (ABN 82 480 123 929), a carpet, couch, upholstery and mattress cleaning business operating across Greater Sydney, NSW. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean One Call Steam Clean.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Questions about this policy can go to us by phone on 0448 634 267 or by email to onecallsteamclean@gmail.com.
What We Collect
When you request a quote through the chat on this website
- The service you need, how many items or rooms, their condition and when you would like the clean done
- Your suburb
- Your name and phone number
- Any extra notes you choose to type in
Our website host, Netlify, also records the following automatically with each quote request: your IP address, your browser’s user agent (browser and device type), the page you sent it from and the date and time it was sent.
When you call, text, email or message us on WhatsApp
Whatever you choose to send us, such as your name, phone number, email address, address, and photos of the items you want cleaned.
When we do a job for you
Your service address and any access instructions, what we cleaned, what we charged and how you paid, and the tax invoice we issue. We also take before-and-after photos of the items we clean. If we use those photos on this website or on social media, we identify the location by suburb only. We never show your name, street address or anything that would identify you. Tell us if you would rather your photos are not used and we will not use them.
When you browse this website
Like all web hosts, Netlify receives technical information when your browser requests a page, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested. It uses this to deliver the site, keep it secure and manage its network. The website also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
We use Google Analytics to see how people use this website so we can improve it. It records the pages you view, how you found the site (for example, a Google search), your device and browser type, your approximate location (city, region and country), and whether you tap to call, WhatsApp or email us, open the quote chat or send a quote request. For a quote request, Google Analytics records only that one was sent. Your name, phone number, suburb and notes are never sent to Google Analytics.
Google Analytics stores a random ID in two first-party cookies whose names start with _ga, so it can tell when the same browser visits again. By default these cookies expire after two years. Google uses your IP address to work out your approximate location and then discards it, and we never see your IP address in Google Analytics. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation for this website, so this data is not used to show you personalised ads. Google Analytics deletes visitor-level data after the retention period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months.
You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The website works fully without them. Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
This website does not use advertising trackers or social media pixels, and the quote chat does not save anything in your browser.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for sensitive information, such as health, racial or ethnic origin, religious or political views, or criminal records. Please do not include any of it in chat notes or messages. We do not collect payment card numbers through this website.
Why We Collect It and How We Use It
We collect personal information only when it is reasonably necessary for our business, and we use it to:
- Prepare and send the quote you asked for, and call or message you about it
- Book, carry out and follow up the clean, including contacting you on the day
- Issue tax invoices and keep the business records Australian tax law requires
- Respond to questions, feedback, complaints and warranty or re-clean requests
- Keep this website and our quote chat secure, including filtering spam and abuse
- Measure how this website is used, such as which pages people view and which contact buttons they tap, so we can improve it
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We will not send you marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can tell us to stop at any time.
Dealing With Us Anonymously
You can browse this website and ask us general questions about our services or prices without giving your name. We do need a name, contact number and service address to prepare a firm quote and to book and carry out a clean.
Who We Share It With
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need to do that:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts this website and receives and stores the quote requests sent through the chat.
- Akismet (Automattic Inc.) is used by Netlify to check each quote request for spam.
- Google LLC provides our business email (Gmail), serves this website’s fonts and runs Google Analytics, which measures how this website is used.
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.) handles your messages if you contact us on WhatsApp. WhatsApp’s own privacy policy covers those messages.
- Professional advisers, such as an accountant or bookkeeper, when we need them to meet our tax and legal obligations.
We may also disclose personal information when the law requires or authorises it, for example to a government agency or law enforcement body.
Links on this website to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google Reviews take you to those platforms. Their own privacy policies apply once you are there.
Overseas Disclosure
The service providers listed above are based in the United States, and they may store or process your information in the United States and in other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Your quote request is stored by Netlify, so it will be held outside Australia. We use established providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments, but the Australian Privacy Principles do not bind those providers in the way they bind businesses in Australia.
How We Store and Protect It
- This website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, so quote requests are encrypted between your browser and our host.
- Quote requests are held in our Netlify account and emails in our Gmail account. Both are password protected, and only the people who run One Call Steam Clean can access them.
- The chat form includes spam protection, and Netlify screens every submission for spam.
How long we keep it. We delete quote requests that do not lead to a booking within 12 months of receiving them. We keep job and invoice records for five years, as Australian tax law requires, and then delete or destroy them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below). We keep it only where the law requires us to.
Data breaches. If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to cause you serious harm, we will contact you and, where required, notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Accessing, Correcting or Deleting Your Information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Call 0448 634 267 or email onecallsteamclean@gmail.com. We will need to confirm your identity first, usually by calling back the phone number on your quote or booking. There is no charge, and we will respond within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first using the details above and tell us what happened. We will look into it and give you a written response within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au, phone 1300 363 992.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy whenever the way we handle personal information changes, for example if we add a new service provider or change what we measure with analytics. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
Questions About Your
Carpet or Lounge?
Call and ask. We would rather give you a straight answer on the phone than have you book something that will not fix the problem.
